Anatomy Sketch Unit Project

Reflection:

I really liked doing this project because it was interesting to look at how eyes move and are shaped, and how makeup changed with the shape and perspective. I didn’t really do what I was supposed to for this project, and I wish I had drawn more eyes as well as other facial features and perspectives, but overall I’m proud of it. I got a bit better at drawing eyes and makeup.

Master Artist:

For my master artist, I looked at Da Vinci’s sketches. I wanted to incorporate how realistic they are, and how they look almost messy but at the same time every aspect of the composition looks intentional and planned out. That didn’t translate well into my project, but it was still cool to have that as a reference

Current Artist:

For the current artist, I just used pictures of people with cool makeup I found on Pinterest

Watercolor Unit Project

Reflection:

I don’t even really know what to say for this one. I didn’t finish it, but when I eventually do I’m going to add more layers and build up the shadows so it doesn’t look so flat and 2-dimensional. I liked drawing people and the tree, and it was frustrating but cool to practice watercolor. I learned a lot about how watercolor works through this project, and while it was a nightmare, I like to think I improved my watercolor skills.

Master Artist:

Okay I’ll be honest, i don’t really have a master artist for this one. I sort of looked at Degas for the people, and a bunch of other artists for the other elements, but no one artist

Current Artist:

Jessica Lauser was my current artist. She does really cool watercolor paintings of women and folklore

Watercolor Practice

Reflection:

I had so much fun with this project. I hate watercolor but somehow this one was really cool. I learned how to blend colors and add texture, and I also learned how important it is to tape down the paper and wait for things to dry. The picture doesn’t really capture it, but I love how vibrant the pigments are, it makes it look super happy and sunny but also kinda creepy. The contrast makes it interesting, I think.

Master Artist:

Whoever painted the reference painting

Current Artist:

Random Sketch

Children's Story Project pg. 1

Reflection:

This is one of the only pages of this project that is actually finished. I didn't add the writing yet, but other than that it's done. I am pretty proud of how this came out, and it was really cool to try markers on paper that actually worked with markers. I also had fun with the eyes and making them 3-D

Master Artist:

I looked at so many different master artists of fairytales, I can't even remember who lol

Current Artist:

I mainly focused on comic book artists, because I wanted to go for a Danger Days- esque fairytale story. I looked at original Marvel comics, as well as Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, and Gerard Way's art

Storybook Project
pg. 2

Reflection:
I LOVE this one. The original sketch for it was so incredibly ugly that I was starting to lose hope, but it turned out super cool. I'm proud of the blending, the textures, and the shading on the face. I practiced so many side profiles because I didn't want to mess this one up, and I love how it turned out. It's not done--- I still need to attach the signs and put Wario at the bottom, but yeah
Master Artist: Same as above, I used a bunch of different master artists. I specifically focused on how side profiles were painted in renaissance-ish era paintings
Current Artists: Same as above

Storybook Project pg. 3
and
Mixed Media Project

Reflection:
This one was super fun to do! I used markers, pens, collage, acrylics, and I will eventually be using stickers when I finally get around to finishing it. At first, I wasn't completely happy with the skeleton, it looked sloppy and just not what I was hoping for, but now I don't entirely hate it. Playing with colors and textures was interesting
Master Artist:
Like before, I have no one master artist. I looked at a lot of classical biblical paintings because religious imagery was a big inspiration
Current Artist:
Same as before. I mainly just looked at comics and mini golf decorations

and
Impressionist Painting

Reflection:

I don't know how to feel about this one. At first, I was very proud of it because it looked like a painting out of a fairytale. Now looking back at it, I don't like it as much and that makes me sad. I wish I had spent more time on the plants, and not let the gold ink smear.

Master Artist:

For this one, I looked at Gustave Dore's work, specifically his painting A Midsummer Night's Dream.

Current Artist:

I was inspired a lot by the current artist Jester Pepita (that's her name on Instagram) because the colors she uses in her art to convey the mood are amazing and I wanted to incorporate that.

(ignore my finger in the picture lol, I forgot to crop it out)

Storybook Project

pg. 5

Reflection:
Oddly enough, I kinda of like how this one turned out. I just looked up paintings of fire and tried to see how different artists captured fire. It's messy and definitely not objectively good, but I feel like it looks like fire? I don't know
Master Artist:
Like I said above, I just looked at a bunch of different paintings of fire to see different artists' interpretations of it.
Current Artists:
Same as above

Showcase Painting

Reflection:

Okay so at first I hated this painting so much. I gave up on it for a few months because I just hated it. Last weekend I decided to just finish it mainly because my mom kept nagging me about it), and tada! It's done. I put glitter paint in the water to add a little pop. I love how the tree came out, and the shading on the moon, as well as the color and texture in the waves. The textures in the sky are something I'm also very proud of.

Master Artist:

I don't have just one master artist because I used a Pinterest board of a bunch of different artists as references.

Current Artist:

Same reason as before. I just had a Pinterest board full of a bunch of different artists.

Altered Book (Unit 5)

This is an altered book I made. It's not done, and I have some ideas of what to do with it but to be honest, it was really frustrating so I decided to leave it at that for now.

I don't have a master or current artist because it's a book with a hole in it. However, I was inspired by those boxes that look like books and have locks on them.

This is a great place to add a tagline.

This is a blob fish. That's it

This was based on the U.S. spending silly amounts of money on space imperialism. I took a lot of inspiration from propaganda posters, and I can't remember who my current and master artists are and at this point, I'd rather eat my grandmother's toenails than try to use Wix anymore.
